Game 2: Triangle Flight 24, Wilson Bulldogs 22

With the tournament running with military precision, Saturday's second game was moved up from a 10 a.m. start to 9:45, which unfortunately limited the amount of pull-ups the players were able to do between games. It also resulted in the confusing moment when the scorekeeper for the girls' team that had been supposed to play at 9 a.m. sat down at the scorer's table at 9:43 and said, "We're playing next."

The response: "I don't think so."

Her answer: "Yes we are, they told me so."

The response: "Well, we're out there warming up and there are two minutes on the clock, so I think we're getting ready to play."

She says (while pulling up a chair): "They told me we were going to play."

The response: Shrugs, opens scorebook, fills out lineups, hopes she will go away (she did).

Unfortunately, once the game began, some of the icy shooting that had affected Team Carolina in the first game seemed to infect Triangle Flight. They shot just 2-for-15 in the first half, but again defense kept the game close, as the Bulldog lead was just 8-4 at halftime.

After an impassioned halftime speech from Coach Mike, Flight slowly began to grind to life in the second half. Brady got hot, scoring four quick points midway through the half and eventually finishing with 10 of his team's 20 in the final 12 minutes. But the one-man Bulldog offense was also scoring consistently, and Wilson had a six-point lead with just minutes left.

That's when the Flight depth started to take effect, as several key offensive rebounds led to big baskets. Isaac scored and was fouled to cut the gap to 22-20, Keegan converted an offensive rebound to tie the score, and then Brady went coast-to-coast to sink the game-winner and complete the comeback with less than three seconds left.

Shot of the day: You have to ask? With no timeouts remaining, Coach Mike told Brady to "Play like your mom." Following orders, Brady took the ball nearly the length of the floor, navigated through some traffic near midcourt, saw some daylight and took the ball to the rim, where he scored the game-winner with 2.9 seconds left.

Big on the boards: Isaac hauled down a team-high nine rebounds, and Keegan made a huge play when he rebounded a missed free throw and stuck it back in to tie the score at 22 with seconds remaining.

Defensive award: In his first Triangle Flight start, Brenner played some tenacious defense and picked up multiple floor burns chasing loose balls.

Stat of the day: This is believed to be the first game in basketball history when a team won the game while shooting zero percent from the free throw line against an opponent that shot 100 percent from the free throw line.
